Heidi Swapp Letterboard Classroom display

I love using my Heidi Swapp products in my classroom. There is always something new and exciting in her collections and when school went back recently for Term 3 and I was planning for our Dr Seuss unit of work I wanted to create a way to get the kids excited. So I used the large Letterboard and some customised letters to create my display and took it into my classroom.

Previously I had spray painted some of the white 1 inch letters with yellow spray paint and I used them plus the Black 1 inch and gold and black half inch letters to create my Dr Seuss quote.

I placed my letter board on my DIY Dr Seuss chair I also made for my classroom.

... and added that red bow to the top of my letter board for a fun Reference to The Cat In The Hat!

My kindergarten class just loved it and it is sitting proudly in our room for the kids to read and refer to each day!

Storyline meets Goofy!

I just love Scrapbooking! For me it is a way of life! It is a way to preserve my family's stories the big and the small for all time. Recently when Heidi held her Free Online class she shared her secrets to  the "How" of getting pages done in just minutes with her new Storyline collection. But the lesson I truly took away  was the "Why" of scrapbooking and  the "Why "of preserving these memories forever.... Our stories told through our scrapbooks define our family's culture. They preserve my family's history! I want to remember the culture of my family- how we spent our boys childhood taking trips half way across the world to visit special places like Disneyland and Legoland! Childhood should be filled with these happy moments, both big and small and as a mum and a scrapbooker I am the Keeper of the memories! Let me share how easy it was to add a little spin on the "traditional" way of scrapbooking  using the (Storyline collection available at Michaels )to add a touch of whimsy to my layout. Its still took only 40 minutes to put together which is even more of a
bonus!

  Heidi Swapp Storyline collection

Do you see what I did there! Totally based my layout on Goofy's crazy hat and used the fun Deck Of Days cards from the Storyline collection  to create my patterned background inside the hat!

  Heidi Swapp Storyline collection

I used some of the Glitter letters and epoxy words from the new Stationery kits also available at Michaels to add a title to my page. I ran the glitter letters alongside the edge of the goofy hat for a fun effect!

  Heidi Swapp Storyline collection

I added my journaling to one of the stickers from the Peony Sticker Kit and added it to my layout with a clip! Below you will see how easily my layout came together! and yes all in under 40 minutes!

Heidi Swapp Storyline collection

1. Find an image on google of your desired shape and print it off. Trim around the shape and adhere it lightly to your page. ( I used some rolled washi tape that can be easily removed).

2. Print off your photos and then grab some water colors and choosing the colors in your photo add splats and sploshes around the edge of the image. I tapped my paint brush on the side of my hand for the small dots!

  Heidi Swapp Storyline collection

3. Allow the water color splotches to dry...it only takes a few minutes and then remove the shape.

  Heidi Swapp Storyline collection

4. Carefully cut out around the inside of the shape and then lay a scrap piece of cardstock under the shape.

5. Choose cards from your Deck Of Days packs that suit the theme of your layout, I grabbed all my lime cards and begin to lay down the cards to fill in the shape. You can see I added a strip of  pattern paper from my stash to form the band on Goofy's hat.

6. Once you have filled the area adhere the Deck of Days down to the cardstock underneath and complete the rest of your layout.

Let me share another page I have created for my Disneyland album using this  same technique and the Storyline collection. It really is so much fun and it is so quick and easy! Isn't he the cutest!

  Heidi Swapp Storyline collection

Don't be afraid to mix it up a little while still recording your family's stories! As a mum it is one of the roles I take very seriously, even as life gets crazy crazy busy it is still such an important aspect of preserving my family's culture!

Heidi Swapp letter board Bedroom decor quote!

Have a quick read of the quote below on my  Heidi Swapp Letterboard and hands up if you are with me! Isn't it just the quirkiest little trait to have but it is me totally! Sometimes as I go through my wardrobe looking for clothes to wear for a certain outing  and I think to myself oh no I must save this shirt or pants or skirt for ...........Crazzzzzy I know but it happens. Now I love poking fun at myself sometimes so I thought why not pop this quote onto my Letterboard and place it in my bedroom.

I grabbed my large Letterboard found at Hobby Lobby and a couple of packs of the letters and got to work!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Letterboard

I started with the Gold 2 inch alphabets and then mixed and matched the fonts and sizes for a fun look. I added the Black 2 inch , the Pink 1 inch letters and the Gold 1 inch letters and then finished off with the Black 1/2 inch letters.

I love the pops of hot pink in my letter board, it really makes it fun!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Letterboard

I decided to make my letterboard practical as well as pretty so I hung all my wooden beads that a friend made for me on the corner! It makes such a happy statement in my bedroom!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Letterboard

I stacked it against the wall on my chest of drawers and then placed some pretty accents around. It certainly makes me smile each morning as I am rushing around my bedroom getting dressed for
work!

It's always a fun idea to have a little fun in your life. I try not to take life too seriously all the time and my Letterboard certainly helps me with that! What will your letter board say?

Heidi Swapp Stationery album!

Have you seen the new  Heidi Swapp Stationery yet! Its filled with box sets of cards of all shapes, colors  and sizes, Embellishment kits and Buzz Word stickers! I wanted to use the cards and envelopes in a fun new way so I came up with this cute little mini album.

Now be e sure to read the whole post as not only do I share my whole album but I share a quick tutorial on putting the album together at the end of my post!

What I love most of all is that the cards, envelopes and Embellishment Packs can be mix and matched to create  any combination you choose. I wanted to go bright on this mini album as you will see below!

My front cover uses the Pink YAY card, its the perfect cover for any mini album don't you think!

I added some of the glitter stickers from the Embellishment Kit for my  subtitle!

The card opens with a 4x4 photo. I used pattern paper from my stash to cover the inside of the card then used one of the Tropical Instax Filler cards on the left. I  added some of the  stickers from Yellow Buzz words  to embellish the card.

On my photo I added more of the Buzz word stickers from the Pink set and layered over some words from the Instax Filler kit. I adhered the yellow hello from the Buzz words sandwiched between my photo and pattern paper. To remove the sticky backing I pressed it into my clothing several times. This works a treat.

The next card the 3x4 So Glad You Exist card was so cute to use in my mini album.

I adhered more pattern paper from my stash then clipped on my photo. On the left I used another of the Instax Filler cards for my journalling. I ran it through my We R Memory Keepers typewriter I then added one of the Epoxy Stickers from the Embellishment kit.

The Hello Sunshine card was added into my mini albumin at a  horizontal angle. I then adhered an Instax tag from a previous collection  followed by my 3x4 photo.

I typed my journalling onto another of the Instax Filler card and added more stickers from the Pink Buzz words!

I had adhered the Dynamite card to the front of the Black and White card then stapled on one of the cards from the Deck Of Days collection on the front of the card. I added a few of the stickers from the Embellishment Kit.

The card opens with a 4 x 4 card on three sides to create a pocket. I adhered that thanks from the Pink Buzz Words set layered with more glitter stickers from the Embellishment kit.

Another Instax Filler card is used for the hidden journalling.

Next I used the Bright Side tag from the Embellishment Kit for another hidden photo and tag. I had previously adhered the black and white card closed on the bottom and right sides to form a pocket.

I added my photo with a decorative paper clip from my stash.

I ran the tag through my We R Memory Keepers Typewriter for the journalling.

My final page ends with a photo clipped onto the Mint envelope. I added more stickers from the Embellishment kit to embellish.

Let me share how easily it was to put my Mini Album together.

I started with these cards, Envelopes, Envelope liners, the Yellow Embellishment Kit and Pink and Yellow Buzz stickers.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

I started by adhering the black and white card closed at the bottom and right hand side to form a pocket.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

I then adhered the Dynamite card to the front of this card.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

I added the glitter Liner into the Pink 3x4 envelope.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

Next I assembled all my pieces together to see the layout of my mini album.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

I scored each of the  pieces about a quarter of an inch from the left hand side to help each page turn.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

I then added double sided tape to the scored section of each piece.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

I then adhered the front of each card to the back of the previous card....

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

until all the cards were in place.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

To complete I added some washi from my stash to hide all the pieces.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Stationery collection mini album

I love how my mini came together.  It holds some very precious and important memories. I cant wait to create another using more cards and envelopes from the collection.
